SuperHero Nicky to the Rescue - A Story

One day, not so long ago, there was a horse named Breeze who had been injured by some unseen evil force and was being incarcerated under the pretense of helping her wounds heal. She was sad, lonely
and hungry.

Her friends were worried about
her and got together under the old oak tree to discuss ways of helping her .

Daisy said " Poor Breeze, to be locked up and not get to eat all this fresh green grass " and Chili replied" Oh yes, poor Breeze, if only someone could help her and get her more food"

" I can do it " came the reply from Super Nicky, Friend to the Hungry. " I can not get her grass because I lack an opposable thumb but I will find some way to get her all the hay she can possibly eat" The girls were shocked and exclaimed, " Oh Nicky , can you ? will you ? You are so big and handsome and strong".

Nicky was tricky and under the pretense of being affectionate he began to study the human closely when she came to feed them. He watched her intently as she opened the door to the magic room in which the hay was stored . That night as he lay in the warm grass he pondered and pondered and pondered until he found the solution. The very next day he waited until the humans were not looking and he used his superior mind and prehensile lips to unlock the door to the hay room.

He first taste-tested large quantities of the delicious hay and then he picked up great piles of it and took them to Breeze, who was still locked in her prison. "Here I am to save the day" he sang....................." No one will go hungry as long as I am in the field"

" Oh My Hero" sighed Breeze as she looked at him with adoration.

" My job here is done" Nicky thinks to himself as he saunters off into the sunset. " HI HO NICKY.... AWAY "

The End .

the evening of our 3rd day on the road

Hello All, it's me , Frank, the nose that knows and I am reporting from location . I am in Fancy Gap Virginia this evening. We are taking our time on this hay run, we haven't left our overnight locations before noon each day as we are enjoying our morning walks in the woods.

Here is a picture of us in the car, the entire rear compartment has been dedicated to our comfort. As it should be , however we are working on getting the front compartment as the view is much better.

Here is me in my usual bid to be allowed to drive the vehicle, I am certain I can make better time but then saw Barney Fife here in Fancy Gap and decided I'd better leave the driving to the humans
Here is a picture of our campsite last night. It was in the Sesquicentennial State Park in South Carolina. The weather was perfect this morning however tonight it is quite cold. I is 49 degrees as I write!!!!!! I am burrowed under covers as I write and so is Lulu but Ali is loving it.

I am pretty excited because I saw a large contingent of fellow canine travelers around tonight and hope to get a better sniff tomorrow.
I will report more later. see yah'

THE HAY RUN - SEPTEMBER 2009

Here we are traveling to Gwens for a vacation while the staff go on the hay run. This is us in the bus. Fiona jumped right on, she is usually left behind and was so happy to be invited. Here is Fiona getting off the bus. She was a good rider.

Wow, the grass is like a dream come true, but Fiona did need to look over her shoulder in case there were monsters present.

Here is my good little guard donkey, watching out for Nick and me .

Yo, yo this is me , Frank, the nose that knows and the road trip begins

Here am I about as happy as I have ever been, I really thought they were going to let me go after the deer. I suffered deep dissapointment but the deer escaped my great hunter clutches, Lucky Deer.

For a minute we thought they wanted us to pull the trailer. Silly us

WILL WRITE MORE TOMORROW
